Domaine Matteri (Hyères, France)

Agricultural Transition, Projects

(Micellium partner) Acquired in 2025 by Micellium, the Matteri estate has embarked on a five-year transformation project to become a benchmark for bio-regenerative viticulture in Provence.

Located between the hills and the sea, at the gateway to the Îles d’Or in the Var region and spread over 50 hectares in Hyères, Carqueiranne, La Crau, La Garde and La Farlède, the vineyard benefits from the richness of its Mediterranean terroirs (schist, chalk, clay-limestone, sandy-clay silt) and cultivates a unique collection of 25 grape varieties, including rare heritage varieties such as Tibouren, Rousseli and Mourvaison, as well as resistant varieties to anticipate climate change.

This diversity allows it to offer a range of distinctive wines, from unique blends to rare single-varietal cuvées. The wines of Domaine Matteri express a contemporary and generous Provence, combining freshness, balance and authenticity in three colours: Rosé, Red and White. The range is structured around four complementary families: Partage, Élégance, Signature and Excellence, produced gradually as the vineyard and ageing processes evolve.

Partage is the range for long lunches with friends, Élégance for memorable events and AOP Côtes de Provence wines, Signature for the estate’s innovation in limited premium vintages, and finally the Excellence range for prestige wines suitable for ageing. Attentive to changing tastes in our societies, the estate has developed the Célestina cuvée, a low-alcohol white wine made from Rousseli grapes, and the Épure cuvée, a non-alcoholic sparkling wine. It also applies its expertise to speciality wines for third parties, particularly in the United States.

To reduce its environmental footprint, it has chosen a specially developed lightweight bottle with a sleek and unique design, the Massalia. It is resolutely pursuing its strategy of environmentally friendly packaging through a high-quality Bag-in-Box sales strategy.

Committed to 100% organic conversion by 2025, the estate is aiming for organic certification and then Regenerative Organic Certification (ROC). The transformation project is based on an integrated sustainable development approach that deploys environmental and societal components firmly rooted in their territory through soil research programmes, the conservation of rare grape varieties, a comprehensive inventory of biodiversity and the gradual deployment of agro-ecological practices (no chemical fertilisers or pesticides, minimal tillage, use of cover crops and compost, creation of hedges and wetlands, regenerative hydrology, renewable energy).

Supported by a multidisciplinary team of 12 employees and an ecosystem of recognised experts who are accompanying the transformation project, Domaine Matteri is developing wines that are rooted in their era. Beyond wine production, it aims to demonstrate that oenological excellence, economic performance and ecosystem regeneration can converge in a sustainable way. Micellium is proud to be involved in this transformation project and to contribute to the establishment of a more virtuous model of viticulture.
